welcome
Two magical factions crash landed on Earth thirty years ago, bringing with them amazing powers and war. The nature based Elementals and the mind based ESP have set up their respective camps in the forest and the city. On the surface, a shaky peace reigns. Non-magical folk struggle to adjust to the new comers, and many maintain a strong distrust of all magic and the violence it brought. Others, however, have chosen sides, and Old and New Magic alike comb the streets seeking to recruit allies as an underground guerilla warfare rages. Another war is coming and now it needs to be known: Which side are you on?
Currently, we have a ban on male ESP's. Please take a look at the stats to see what needs to be balanced! Help us Guest, you're our only hope!
For the few next days, the money you earn from posting has doubled! (Wooo!) Also, the member (not staff) who shows the most activity can talk with Parrot and we can plan something special for you. It could be a quest, a PvP thing, a special character, or the keys to a brand new car! (That was a joke) And if that doesn't interest you then we can discuss something else. My mind is always open ;)

Setting
Summer is here and with it comes the heat. The high is normally in the mid 90's- a blessing for some, a struggle for others. Those living in the city and town rely on air conditioning while the Elementals make due with the wind alone. Cicadas are starting to move out of the forest and into the town and they can be heard (quite loudly) every day.
Male OTM
Lynx If his charming half smile doesn't knock you off your feet than his witty one liners will. (That or he's going to trip you via Telekinesis.) Lynx is this month's winner for male OTM! A character who started off as an ass has actually turned out to be only kind of an ass. Lynx finds his pleasure in fast cars and even faster women, though this hasn't stopped him from protecting those he has reluctantly found himself caring for. Poor Lynx has spent more time being dragged through other people's mess that he hasn't had time to finish his car. Well, from all of us at WFM, we hope you get that time soon Lynx! Snarky Lynx is played by Devi.
Female OTM
Tabitha Holt Got hots for teacher? Well, who wouldn't when the teacher is Tabitha! This water Elemental has spent half of her time dragging Lynx around, recruiting him as an unlikely ally. Over the month Tabitha has seen her share of some grisly stuff- from drowning men (and women) to having her capture's head blown right off in front of her. She's no warrior but for some reason this little lady has been stuck fighting battles and running after kids instead of grading papers. Now with the FBI after her and the War Committee doubting her every move, we're pretty sure Tabitha's not going to get a break any time soon. Stubborn Tabitha is played by Parrot.
Thread OTM
Fanatically Fanatic If anyone says that WFM isn't action packed well they are wrong. Dead wrong. This thread is proof of that! We've got fanatics pulling people left and right off of the street, taking them hostage as they preach peace through violence. (Yeah, it works out as well as you think it would.) And soon four of our very own characters, who would normally never work together, have to overcome the fanatics and fight for their lives. Overcome they do, as Enzo blasts a guy's head off, Tabitha drowns a woman, Lynx throws chairs at people, and Asher shows off his acrobatic skills. In the end they make a getaway, but were they fast enough to avoid unwanted attention? Guess we'll find out when the site plot starts! Votes picked this thread for OTM due to its action and the fact that multiple players were involved. Thanks to all who contributed!
Member OTM
Dufflepud Congratulations to Duffle, our winner of member OTM! Duffle has been a great addition to WFM family as he brought with him the most awesome PvP factor to our site. Duffle has been great with his constructive ideas for the site and overall involvement. He is known to commoners as the Great and Powerful Arena Master but, humbly, prefers Duffle. He manages not only to run his own site, is active here, but he also goes on some pretty rockin' vacations. (Yes, we are very jealous. Thanks.) Duffle is always willing to give a helping hand to our guests and members, so, for that, we thank you. :)

Irving knew how to please people. He especially knew how to please the people he worked for. They liked it when he cleaned well and they liked it when he talked about bringing Elemental prisoners or information back. In truth, Irving’s bosses had total confidence in Irving’s powers. That’s why they let him go out at night to the back alleyways that ran throughout Coho City. Irving’s face beamed into a smile as he recalled this fact. They trusted him and he trusted them. And that’s why he wanted to bring them back the trapped Elemental he found.
It was hard to find the older boy in the dark but Irving had managed (thanks to his powers). The Elemental was a man in his early twenties- maybe- and he was haphazardly throwing little pebbles at Irving. He was a very weak earth Elemental and they both knew it.
“Stop, freak,” the Elemental yelled, his voice breaking, “get the hell away from me.”
Another rock flew at Irving. It missed by a good foot from his head. Irving smiled sadly at the young boy. The janitor wasn’t going to kill the kid, no, he wasn’t that much of a threat. Irving was just going to take him back to the skyscraper for his bosses. He didn’t know what the bosses did with the weak Elementals, he didn’t have that sort of clearance. Actually, this would be the first Elemental Irving had ever caught so he wasn’t even sure where he would drop off the kid.
“I’m not going to hurt you. I just need to take you back somewhere,” Irving spoke slowly.
The kid replied with a bunch of dust being directed into Irving’s eyes. The janitor made a startled cry as he furiously wiped at his face. If the Elemental continued to resist then Irving would have to use his powers against him.
“Just leave me alone!” the kid bolted.
Irving followed.

It was late, and Theo was going to be in serious trouble. He was not supposed to be out after dark, not when he didn't have an escort, but time had gotten away from him. A young man, about 18 or 19, had been at the coffee shop doing homework, and he and Theo had struck up a conversation that had lasted for hours. It felt good for Theo to have met what he would like to consider a new friend, even though the chances of him running into the guy were slim. He was a student from the nearby university working on a paper about whether or not the ESP/Elemental powers were "magic" or "scientific mutations." Of course, Theo hadn't told him that he was an ESP himself; he wasn't allowed to tell anyone about his powers. But the conversation had been fascinating nonetheless, and Theo- who knew the true history behind the ESP, the Elementals, and their conflict- was intrigued by how little the nonmagics understood.
But now the sun had gone down, and Theo was trying to get back to the Skyscraper before someone noticed he hadn't returned yet and sent an entire squad out hunting for him. The idea of having to be escorted back to the Skyscraper made him squirm with embarrassment, and he knew if he didn't get back quickly, he might not be allowed to leave on his own ever, even during the day.
With that motivating thought, Theo paused by the entrance to an alley that cut across several blocks. He ran a hand through his dark hair agitatedly, wondering if it was worth the risk. Perhaps just a brief glance to make sure he wouldn't get murdered? Closing his eyes, Theo focused his attention. He could see himself entering the alley, cautiously making his way down the pothole-ridden asphalt and stepping over greasy puddles from the afternoon's rain. Halfway, he ran into someone. Irving!
Theo's eyes flashed open. If he met up with Irving, he could have the man escort him back to the Skyscraper. It could definitely help him avoid a lot of trouble if he showed up with an escort, and he knew Irving loved to help out in any way he could. Excited by that prospect, Theo hurried into the not-so-savory back alleyways, sidestepping the puddles but not bothering with any of the cautions he had possessed in his vision.
It wasn't until Theo realized he heard talking that his light jog slowed. He had not seen this in his vision, but then again he had not watched until the end. Wondering if Irving had gotten into some kind of trouble, Theo advanced slowly. He didn't know how to fight at all, but he wasn't going to leave Irving on his own if he needed help. The guy might have been a bit cooky, but he was a good man.
As Theo approached, he was nearly run over by someone running away. The person shoved Theo, hard, so that he stumbled sideways into a dumpster, managing to catch himself before he fell. "Irving!" Theo called as he saw the janitor come into view in the darkness, apparently pursuing the fleeing stranger. He was glad to see the janitor appeared to be unharmed.
((Argh, kinda crappy post, sorry. Lol))

The last thing Irving would have ever expected was to hear his name being called out. The long limbed man skidded to a hurried stop, nearly falling backwards from the momentum, as the person calling his name stood right in front of him. At first Irving was angry that this person made him lose track of the Elemental he was gonna capture, but then, as he strained his old eyes to make out the owner of the voice, he was happily surprised. Theo was Irving’s closet friend at the Skyscraper even though they were often separated because of their duties.
Irving always did his best to visit Theo after his job was done and for the longest time Irving had to mind control the guards to let him inside Theo’s room. They didn’t like it when Theo had unannounced visitors, especially visitors who didn’t have their code yet. But Irving managed and the two of them would stay up late into the night talking about stuff or playing board games. Sometimes Irving even let Theo win on purpose, that’s how much he liked the boy.
But what was Theo doing out in the back streets of Coho? He didn’t even have any other ESP’s with him. Either something was really wrong with Irving’s friend or Theo was going to get into a lot of trouble when he got back home. Irving didn’t really blame Theo for wanting to get out of the Skyscraper now and again because the janitor remembered his teenaged years of rebellion he’d experienced when growing up. Eventually, Theo would learn that the Skyscraper was the safest place for an ESP to be with all the nasty Elementals crawling around.
“Theo?” Irving blinked, giving the boy a wide smile, “You alright?” Theo seemed to be breathing heavily and had a worried expression on his face. And he didn’t even seem to notice the Elemental that’d escaped right by him. That thought bristled Irving’s anger once again. Irving wouldn’t hurt the boy, but Theo did let the Elemental go…and Irving’s bosses weren’t going to like that.
“We need to find that Elemental, Theo!” Irving exclaimed, pointing past the other ESP, “We’ve got to get him back to the Skyscraper.”

"Yes, I'm fine... That was an Elemental?" Theo asked, shifting uncomfortably. Theo had never encountered an Elemental before, and prospect of meeting one face to face was exciting. He couldn't let this show, of course, for an ESP shouldn't be excited about an Elemental, not unless they were capturing it which was apparently what Irving wanted to do. Theo, of course, had no clue how to go about that, and the idea of tangling violently with an Elemental warrior did not appeal to him. It wasn't that he was a coward about a fight; oh no, Theo would bravely stand against any enemy if he believed it to be necessary. But right now, standing in the back alleyways after dark, knowing that each second that ticked by brought him closer to being stuck in his room for days...well, capturing an Elemental just didn't seem like the kind of thing to redeem himself. In fact, if anything, is superiors would be livid for him taking such a risk!
But he couldn't let Irving go on his own; the man didn't even have powers, no matter what he believed. Moreover, Theo needed him as an escort back the Skyscraper. Besides, if the Elemental was truly someone important, chances were he was powerful, and if he was powerful, Theo seriously doubted a nonmagic and an ESP with precognition and zero fighting skills could capture him without one or both of them getting killed. One didn't need the gift of foresight to see it was a losing battle.
"Is he important?" Theo asked carefully, turning to the side slightly to let Irving pass if he wanted to move forward with pursuing the Elemental. Theo didn't want to insult the man by saying he doubted they could take him on, and to be frank he was too proud to admit his own short comings out loud; nevertheless, he knew he could tweak the situation to let the Elemental escape, and then Irving would be more than happy to take him back. Of course, if the Elemental was an exceptionally important target...? Well, Theo would cross that bridge if it came up.

Irving paused, eyeing at the space where the Elemental once occupied as he thought about Theo’s question. Of course the janitor knew the kid he’d cornered wasn’t anyone special, just some wayward Elemental who happened to show off his power as Irving walked by. The kid had barely mastered his magic and certainly the Boss wouldn’t have any personal interest in the Elemental, so, no the kid wasn’t important.
“No,” the janitor drawled slowly, his gaze returning back to his friend. Irving knew all about Theo’s powers, even though the older man wasn’t supposed to. It was dangerous to know, just in case Irving was ever captured and tortured for the information, but Irving was assured in his own mental abilities to lock away Theo’s existence from any torturers.
His blue eyes lit up as a thought manifested inside his mind. Theo could help him, Theo could tell him if they captured the earth Elemental and how the Boss reacted! The wrinkles on Irving’s face crinkled as his brain worked away at the possible outcomes but did Theo’s powers even work that way? He couldn’t remember.
“No, he’s not really anyone important. The Boss never told me I had to look out for someone important tonight. I’m sure he would have let me know,” Irving’s head swung up and down happily as he talked, excited at just the thought of his Boss trusting him.
It was then that it dawned on Irving- why was Theo out on his own? He was never allowed to be on his own, especially if it was outside in the city. The Boss was real particular over Theo.
“You in some kind of trouble, Theo?” Irving asked suddenly as he walked towards Theo, closing the gap between them. “I ain’t ever seen you out here alone before.”
Theo’s safety didn’t worry Irving, not when the janitor was there to protect both of them from any attacks. He wouldn’t ever let something bad happen to Theo. Theo was his best friend.

"Not so fast" Enzo called out with a hint of a laugh, as he wrenched the sprinting teen back through the air. The kid gave a cry of surprise as he fell on his back, looking about wildly for the source of the tug. Attaching a telekinetic leash of sorts to his limbs, the ESP Field Agent turned back around, dragging the Elemental behind him as he made his way back towards the old man and the younger boy. His charge began to kick and yell for help, and Enzo glanced back at him with an annoyed expression.
"If you don't shut up, I'll just gag you," he whispered harshly. In response, the boy began to scream even louder, and Enzo gave a sigh, before growling, "I have a bit of trouble controlling myself sometimes, so when I say gag, what I mean is break your jaw." At that, the prisoner immediately quieted down. "Good boy!" he taunted demeaningly, before continuing back towards the duo. As he approached the flickering street light under which they stood, he dragged the elemental in front of him, sending him sprawling face first onto the ground.
Looking up at Theo, the telekinetic gave a nod. He didn't know anything about him, but he'd often seen the other ESP around the premises of the Skyscraper when he went back. The old man, he'd known of since he joined the ESP faction almost a year previous. At first, they'd tried to train him to perfect his technique with other students, but he'd accidentally destroyed so much expensive equipment that he'd finally just signed up to become a field agent. That way, he didn't have to face the other much, and he got plenty of chances to face the enemy.
He'd heard form some that Irving was a bit... "eccentric," but he hadn't had enough personal interaction with the Janitor to make that judgement, especially after ending his training prematurely.
"I brought you the 'prisoner' you were looking for," Enzo said as the earth-manipulater dropped to the cement with a dull thump.

At Iriving's reply, Theo nodded, adding extra emphasis to his nod when Irving mentioned the Boss would've let him know to be on the look out for someone important. It wasn't that Theo exactly believed this; he had a decent grasp on where exactly Irving stood in the ESP hierarchy, after all. Yet, this was precisely why Theo knew that the ESP did trust Irving, and most important Theo trusted Irving and considered him to be a close friend. After all, it was Irving who kept him company when nobody his own age was interested in him; it was Irving who played board games with him and brought him books from the public library; it was even Irving who told Theo about life as a nonmagic, including all the wonderful delicacies likes burgers, French fries, and coke (all of which Theo had insisted Irving show him the day he was finally allowed to leave the Sky Scraper).
When Irving asked if he was in trouble, Theo opened his mouth to reply but was cut off as the Elemental who has escaped moments before was suddenly thrust back at him. Startled, Theo took a step back, wondering if perhaps the Elemental had brought reinforcements, but it took only a moment to realized he was restrained, even if Theo couldn't see the bindings. Relaxing slightly, Theo moved his eyes from the slumped figure on the ground to approaching man. He recognized him almost immediately, for they were the same age and had shared a few training sessions. Not that Theo regularly trained with the other kids; he was only allowed to join a few lessons, and that was more to ensure his familiarity with the ESP population than to train. It made visions easier to interpret if he knew the person he was seeing. This boy, Theo recalled, was an exceptionally strong telekinetic. Strong and unmanageable; the boy had not stayed to train long and was now a field agent. His powers were far more suited to this than Theo's, the young seer thought with only a note of bitterness- not because he wanted to be a field agent, but because people like Vicenzo got to go out on their own all the time, and people like Theo had to be kept inside under close watch. Not that there was anyone else quite like Theo.
Having never spoken to his peer, and having never been put in a position to take prisoners before, Theo wasn't quite sure what to say, and he hated this more than he hated being stuck inside all the time. After all, Theo wasn't immune to adolescence; he wanted to fit in just as much as any other teenage boy, especially since most of his time was spent watching groups of friends train together.
"Er- Thanks," Theo replied awkwardly, hoping his cheeks didn't look as flushed as they felt. To cover up his awkwardness, he looked down at the Earth Elemental, a faint crease appearing in his brow. "Is this really necessary?" he asked, looking back up with more confidence than when he had looked down. Seeing the boy- probably not much older than himself- slumped in the dirt did not sit very well with him, even if he was an Elemental. "I mean, Irving said he wasn't important."

“Well, look at that,” Irving exclaimed as the Elemental he’d been chasing before was shoved back to them. Not even his mind powers could have known that would happen, especially if Theo hadn’t seen this newcomer join them with his powers and Theo was stronger at precognition. But Irving knew quite well that not everything could be foreseen despite a person’s powers. He wasn’t delusional, after all.
The Elemental’s captor was another teenager that Irving had seen around the Skyscraper for the last year. From what Irving knew the kid was a powerhouse; the other students always whispered this when they didn’t think anyone else was around. No one noticed Irving’s presence unless they wanted to. He preferred it like this and it gave him knowledge to all sorts of things that he could tell his Boss. The Boss always liked Irving’s information even if he didn’t always show it on his face. Irving could never let the Boss’s sour face from believing he was annoying- the Boss relied on him too much.
Irving, though, couldn’t remember the kids name and by the way Theo talked, it seemed like he knew the other teen too.
“Not important,” the janitor parroted after Theo had finished talking, “but I think we should still bring him to the Boss. Boss might have a use of him.”
Irving eyed the prisoner, feeling kinda bad for the kid who’d certainly been rough handled by Powerhouse. Duty, however, overrode any feelings of sympathy and Irving pointed back down the street behind him and towards where the Skyscraper sat.
“We’ll bring him in. No more hurting him either, Powerhouse,” Irving directed at the new kid. “We don’t want him dead before we bring him in.”
At those words the Elemental wailed, tears streaming down his cheek and Irving could not tell if that was from fear or pain.
“Please, let me go!” the Elemental cried, “I don’t know anything. We ain’t part of the war!”
