Character InfoName: Sam Asher
Race: Non-magical Human
Sex: Male
Age: 18
Faction: Neutral, and unlikely to be swayed
Power: None whatsoever
Rune or code: None
Appearance: Rather short for his age, Sam is hardly intimidating. He looks like he hasn't eaten a good meal in a while, and that's not far from the truth either. But both of those are to his advantage, and so Sam doesn't mind all that much. In fact, he might play it up from time to time, trying to get handouts from others. His most defining feature is his cocky, mischievous look- the head tilt, a slight smirk, that glint in his light blue eyes. Sam knows he's not bad looking with his brown hair, soft features and arched eyebrows, and intends on taking full advantage of that.
In terms of dress, Sam can be a bit unusual. He wears soft soled boots and flexible navy jeans, paired with a black shirt that stays snug to his figure. He keeps a pair of gloves, an extra set of clothes, a hat, and a few other nicknacks in a gray messenger bag that he carries with him always- after all, he never knows when he might need something.
One thing that is unique about Sam are the white scars across the palms of his hands and up the sides of his wrists, remnants from a bad burn a few years back.
Personality: Surprisingly, considering his occupation, Sam loves attention. He's pretty friendly towards anyone he might happen to meet and definitely fun-loving. Jokes, tricks, or even just a polite conversation is enough to keep his mood in high spirits. And if the other person is especially negative, he'll be sure to follow them around in a somewhat annoying fashion, trying to boost their mood as well. He considers pretty much anyone he meets a friend. The unfortunate part is that hardly anyone is safe from his sticky fingers, even his so-called 'friends'.
It's not that he is lying about liking them- he really does- it's just that his 'job' is more important to him. But despite his questionable priorities, Sam does in fact have morals. His own personal code prevents him from stealing from children- that's just plain wrong for him- and from others who aren't better off.
Though it's difficult to actually anger Sam, one sure way to annoy him is to catch him stealing. After all, it's a huge blow to his ego- he's proud of his thieving abilities, and frankly, it's the only way he really survives on the streets. Luckily he's quick to forgive... That is,
after he's retaliated in one form or another. An eye for an eye, he says.
Strengths: Extremely flexible, has acrobat training, light on his feet and is a decent liar.
Weaknesses: Physically weak for a male his age, lacks any powers, fears being attacked with magic (both old and new) and especially fires. Has a soft spot for young children.
Biography: He wasn't born to a rich family, a famous family, or a magical family. But his childhood was far from ordinary, seeing as how his mother was an acrobat and his father owned a small traveling circus. He and his younger sister loved seeing their mother perform at nights, swinging through the air, and would often practice along side her in the afternoons. While his sister never really got the hang of it, Sam was a natural. After several years of training, he and his mother were doing acts in the show together.
They weren't terribly rich, but they weren't poor either, and Sam never had more fun than when he was performing. But a bad accident one night changed all that. A man in the crowd had been smoking during the performance; when he flicked the cigaret away, it burst into flames. The fire killed several people in the crowd, including both of Sam's parents. He and his sister had been badly burned, and transported to the nearest hospital. They were both released and placed in an orphanage. At the age of eighteen Sam was released; however, his younger sister was made to remain behind as she was only sixteen.
Sam moved to a larger town where he first started panhandling, but panhandling soon turned to pick pocketing, and by now he's a full-blown thief. He'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy it for the sake of doing it, but he's really trying to scrape together some money to buy a house or an apartment where he and his sister can live. Not that he'd reveal that to anyone, of course.
Other: He prefers to go by his last name, Asher.
