welcome
Two magical factions crash landed on Earth thirty years ago, bringing with them amazing powers and war. The nature based Elementals and the mind based ESP have set up their respective camps in the forest and the city. On the surface, a shaky peace reigns. Non-magical folk struggle to adjust to the new comers, and many maintain a strong distrust of all magic and the violence it brought. Others, however, have chosen sides, and Old and New Magic alike comb the streets seeking to recruit allies as an underground guerilla warfare rages. Another war is coming and now it needs to be known: Which side are you on?
Currently, we have a ban on male ESP's. Please take a look at the stats to see what needs to be balanced! Help us Guest, you're our only hope!
For the few next days, the money you earn from posting has doubled! (Wooo!) Also, the member (not staff) who shows the most activity can talk with Parrot and we can plan something special for you. It could be a quest, a PvP thing, a special character, or the keys to a brand new car! (That was a joke) And if that doesn't interest you then we can discuss something else. My mind is always open ;)

Setting
Summer is here and with it comes the heat. The high is normally in the mid 90's- a blessing for some, a struggle for others. Those living in the city and town rely on air conditioning while the Elementals make due with the wind alone. Cicadas are starting to move out of the forest and into the town and they can be heard (quite loudly) every day.
Male OTM
Lynx If his charming half smile doesn't knock you off your feet than his witty one liners will. (That or he's going to trip you via Telekinesis.) Lynx is this month's winner for male OTM! A character who started off as an ass has actually turned out to be only kind of an ass. Lynx finds his pleasure in fast cars and even faster women, though this hasn't stopped him from protecting those he has reluctantly found himself caring for. Poor Lynx has spent more time being dragged through other people's mess that he hasn't had time to finish his car. Well, from all of us at WFM, we hope you get that time soon Lynx! Snarky Lynx is played by Devi.
Female OTM
Tabitha Holt Got hots for teacher? Well, who wouldn't when the teacher is Tabitha! This water Elemental has spent half of her time dragging Lynx around, recruiting him as an unlikely ally. Over the month Tabitha has seen her share of some grisly stuff- from drowning men (and women) to having her capture's head blown right off in front of her. She's no warrior but for some reason this little lady has been stuck fighting battles and running after kids instead of grading papers. Now with the FBI after her and the War Committee doubting her every move, we're pretty sure Tabitha's not going to get a break any time soon. Stubborn Tabitha is played by Parrot.
Thread OTM
Fanatically Fanatic If anyone says that WFM isn't action packed well they are wrong. Dead wrong. This thread is proof of that! We've got fanatics pulling people left and right off of the street, taking them hostage as they preach peace through violence. (Yeah, it works out as well as you think it would.) And soon four of our very own characters, who would normally never work together, have to overcome the fanatics and fight for their lives. Overcome they do, as Enzo blasts a guy's head off, Tabitha drowns a woman, Lynx throws chairs at people, and Asher shows off his acrobatic skills. In the end they make a getaway, but were they fast enough to avoid unwanted attention? Guess we'll find out when the site plot starts! Votes picked this thread for OTM due to its action and the fact that multiple players were involved. Thanks to all who contributed!
Member OTM
Dufflepud Congratulations to Duffle, our winner of member OTM! Duffle has been a great addition to WFM family as he brought with him the most awesome PvP factor to our site. Duffle has been great with his constructive ideas for the site and overall involvement. He is known to commoners as the Great and Powerful Arena Master but, humbly, prefers Duffle. He manages not only to run his own site, is active here, but he also goes on some pretty rockin' vacations. (Yes, we are very jealous. Thanks.) Duffle is always willing to give a helping hand to our guests and members, so, for that, we thank you. :)

On Our Own // T, Theo, Irving (Past)
|

Sitting at a park bench, Irving eyed the grassy grounds with a dull gaze. A bag of bird seed rested on his lap and occasionally he would dig his wrinkled hand in and throw a few pieces out to the pigeons. It was relaxing, yes, but that wasn't Irving's main goal. He was there under strict orders. Well, not orders from the Boss, Kenji Jinayu, but Irving had a feeling the Boss would want him there. This was, after all, the first time Irving had ever seen Theo out with only one guard. T was capable enough with his ability (Irving knew this because he could gauge a person's powers) but still, it was a risk. So, Irving was acting under his own orders, knowing, just knowing, the Boss would approve.
With another toss, Irving's gaze difted over to the two boys, wondering why they were at the park. Maybe he should go over there and ask? The janitor's face scrunched up. Theo was his friend but Irving didn't want to be annoying. He looked down at a bird as it fluffed up its feathers and chased away a smaller one.
Coo, coo, coo, it commanded.
The older man shook his head. "Bully," he scolded before throwing a few flakes over at the sickly bird.

Truth. Hertz rubbed A&D ointment into his long healed code, taking special care when he pulled his sock back up over it. He then casually applied the ointment to his much fresher arm tattoo, watching Irving out of the corner of his eye. The handy man was harmless, his presence actually calming Truth slightly. He wasn't completely alone in this venture from the Skyscraper.
Not that he was frightened. Truth had just gotten his code the year before, and it was a very rare code indeed. It had confirmed that the ESP had made a fabulous investment in the super soldier known as Project T, or just T. Sometimes he resented that he wasn't doing something more active for the ESP, but his mission was more important than espionage or fighting. He was the primary guardian of Theodore Belcroft.
T glanced from his fresh Urumi tattoo to the 14 year old. They had been raised as brothers, though it was clear by their appearances alone they were not related. Truth's skin was dark chocolate in color, and Theo was a ghost in comparison. Truth was leanly muscled, Theo not so much. But, none of that mattered to Truth. He loved the younger ESP like a brother, and would give up his life for the younger boy without hesitation.
"Well, Theo, you got your wish. We're in the park, alone. What do you want to do, brother?"

After much whining, complaining, fighting, begging, persuading, arguing, and lots and lots of reasoning, Theo had finally gotten his wish. He was outside of the Skyscraper without a bunch of adults hanging around him, making sure he didn't so much as sneeze without supervision. He wasn't exactly on his own, but he didn't mind T being there. Actually, he was happy to have the older ESP there. Deep down, Theo knew that T was another guard, someone there to protect him, but it was hard to view someone he had grown up with, played with, and even gotten in trouble with as "just" a guard. In many respects, Theo still felt like he and T had snuck out of the Skyscraper, even though T had been in Kenji's office for like...an hour last night going over the "rules and regulations" of Theo's field tripping.
Unlike T, who was vigilant and aware of their surroundings, Theo had no clue that Irving was there, though he would have been happy to include him in their adventure. Granted, it would prevent them from doing anything too cool- Irving was a grown up, after all, and far too dedicated to Kenji for Theo to persuade to let him do anything cool- but Theo liked the older man. He was, after all, the one who had brought the boys board games and books form the library; he was also the one who never seemed to mind telling Theo about the outside world, no matter how many questions Theo asked or how many times he asked them.
Theo was watching a group of boys play a makeshift game of soccer in an open field not far from where they sat. When T spoke, however, he turned his bright blue eyes to the older boy and shrugged. "I don't even know where to begin," Theo admitted, turning back to the group of amateur soccer players. He hadn't spent much time around non-magics; in fact, the number of non-magics he had actually spoken to up 'til now he could count on one hand, and that was including Irving. Watching them play soccer, without a single magical cheat intrigued Theo. After all, he had never seen a game where a telekinetic wasn't moving the ball, or a mind blaster wasn't disorienting the goalie.
"Maybe we can join their game?" Theo suggested, even though he had never played soccer in his life.

A pigeon cooed restlessly as Irving tossed it another handful. He couldn't hear what either Theo or T were saying and they were too far away for Irving to try and read their lips. (Which, by the way, he could do, thank you very much. Irving hated when people doubted his abilities.) T seemed to have noticed him, but offered no wave or indication that he did. This wasn't entirely foreign to Irving, he was used to being ignored daily, and right now it came in handy as, technically, he supposed he was spying.
Giddiness grew inside the older man as he smiled.
Irving McKaul was useful.
Theo completely missed the janitor, however, and Irving wondered what the kid wanted to do on one of his rare days out with limited supervision. So long as Theo was safe, Irving didn't mind sitting out on the bench, feeding the birds, and watching the joy on his friend's face. Sometimes Irving thought that Theo deserved better than what the young kid got, but it wasn't Irving's place to defy the Boss' word.
